Summer Romance - Beaches, Cottages - Shabby Boho Hideaways

Spring 2013 has so much going on with my relocating studio and home but I can hardly wait to go treasure hunting for things to relove, rework and repurpose!  Those are my three "Rs".  I think this little romantic statue looks so much better with it's greigy white finish.  All it needs is some sort of candle or tea light on the top of the cup the angel is holding.

This Fall 2012, I have found myself fond of tropical pastel colours!  Miami, Old Habana, Bermuda - all those lovely shades of acqua, corals, yellows and soft pinks!  Here are a few of projects that were inspired by these pretty pastels.

Alice in Wonderland is a great subject for colour! Art Deco furniture has a lot of good lines to paint in multi-pastel shades

This wonderful vintage reproduction is a colourful inspiration.

I'm in that frame of mind where farm houses and cottages are contstantly pulling at my creative strings.  Banners are a great way to dress up an old window, an armoire - staircare or covered porch.  It's the whimsy and the ability to put favourite images, pictures and quotes all together like a collage.  I loved doing collages, paper mache projects and other fun stuff growing up.  I think that is what I enjoy about banners.  The freedom to create things of interest.  These shabby farmhouse banners transport me to a romantic place where I can sit on a porch and read a good book and enjoy a lazy summer day.

Let your imagination get the best of you and take over, what are your passions and hobbies ...

Can you tell I'm itching for the warm weather, warm sand and the laid back lazy days of reading magazines and books, bbqs and friends.  Big sigh.  Well I have a wish list and maybe one day will have a little vintage seaside cottage to call my own.  Reality is I probably will never be able to have one unless I win a lottery.  LOL.  The closest I can come is to create all sorts of beautiful shabby, boho and laid back cottage style furnishings for my pretend cottage.  Since I post all of this in facebook (http://www.facebook.com/marysthriftyboutique) as well including prices etc. I'm going to try to just put in the photos and descriptions here.  The busier I get the harder it is for me to go back and forth and when I have a sale - oh boy lots of work.  LOL.

Don't forget to the check the chapter called Some Upcycling going on ... there are many great befores/after photos in there!
