Let the Good Times Roll - Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Pretty paper, paint and lace.  So many times I find old items that need to be reloved and reworked.  Once in a while there is something that isn't really old or at last under 20 years old makes it not-vintage.  A modern espresso coloured cabinet-tower.  I just wasn't loving it.  There wasn't anything unique or different about it.  No history or romance.  Then I found a pretty paper, looked at a stain glass panel and with those two jumping points put together an idea for a romantic bohemian transformation of a modern piece of furniture.

The before (modern cabinet - slowly getting reworked and aged)

Vintage Shabby-Boho Transformation - taking something new and making it old.

Sigh, the good times are going to be rolling on down the street this Spring - new location one and half blocks south of Centre to be announced in May.  That means I want my packing to be fast and less is best so many never before listed items on now on sale and going out the door!  I like to start off fresh and new and let the charm of the house guide my decorating decisions.

I have been working on many colourful items.  Decoupage is King at the moment.  Hope you like the pretty reworked and reloved items that I've finished and are available for sale.

Well another Mardi Gras has gone by and the boutique is full of finished projects.  I can't believe how many I was able to get done.  It always seems like there are so many to get too that you have to step back and take a look at what you have done.  That made me feel so much better.  I've been including many before and work-in-progress pictures on my facebook page and pinterest.  Sometimes I tweet.  LOL

Thinking back of things I never did now it's just second nature now to tweet, f.b., pin, blog - HUH :)

Don't forget to check Shabby-Boho Tales from the Caravan Blog - my diary - down-to-earth blog of projects, picking expeditions and befores and afters.  I've found a real joy in taking a chance and creating more whimsical and bohemian furniture and art.

I'm completely in love with Pinterest and you can follow me on it by clicking the pinterest widget.  Mary's Thrifty Boutique is happily pinning away and enjoying all the inspiration.

Thrifty Boutique Catalogue

Let the good times roll is a well known saying down in New Orleans.  Their love of a good life filled with laughter, good food, music and friends is infectious.  Their appreciation of the past and living with objects that show their age with worn fabrics, weathered patinas and faded elegance. That is a French-style decadence known as New Orleans Style.  Inspired by that southern eclectism and past grandeur - I have put together a medley of vintage, refinished and repurposed furnishings, home decor, lighting, linens, art, jewellery, rugs, scarves, tableware ... .

Note:  many of the items have been part of a recent sale - I've been tagging and keeping a list of them so please check with me - as well as the facebook page - I reduced many up to 25% (it's about being as Thrifty as I can wherever possible)
